Nicholas Mowes, Clinical Social Worker!

The team at CCM Health is excited to welcome to our community, Nicholas Mowes, MSW, LICSW.  He received his Masters of Social Work from the University of Southern California.  He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.  Through his work and education, Nicholas brings expertise in treating mental health conditions and assisting our patients through difficulties such as depression, anxiety, other mental health conditions, trauma, family therapy, and life difficulties.

Nicholas comes to us from Mayo Clinic where he worked as a social worker in the inpatient medical setting. Prior to this, he worked with various organizations including Woodland Centers, the St. Cloud VA Medical Center, Hope Village San Diego, and Naval Medical Center Camp Pendleton – Wounded Warrior Battalion. Nicholas moved to Minnesota 5 years ago and he fell in love with the Midwest.  He is excited to be in our wonderful community of Montevideo.  When he isn’t working or volunteering in the community, he enjoys keeping up with his 2 sons, the outdoors, woodworking, home improvement projects, running, and watching college football.

When asked what motivated him to enter the field of Behavioral Health and Social Work, Nicholas recounts his time growing up in a military family, where he was able to witness the struggles service members and families endured as a result of 9/11. This includes the constant pressures and effects of numerous deployments.  “The invisible scars that were left and the strains on families, including my own, were not being addressed enough considering the sacrifices that were being made. I had a strong desire to help bridge that gap by giving people the access to address these pressures”.  Nicholas is also passionate about healing from trauma.  “Almost everyone has something traumatic happen in their life. It could be an illness, loss, or something completely out of a person’s control.  I enjoy helping others develop skills to overcome these struggles. If people can learn to overcome them, they are set up for greater success in life.”

Nicholas Mowes, MSW, LICSW is the newest addition to the CCM Health’s Behavioral Health Department. CCM Health is excited to start offering this service and will be adding on to this department during the late fall of 2019.
